Mr. Robert E. Grant, 42, serves as CEO and President of Bausch + Lomb Surgical after joining the company in August 2010. Prior to Bausch + Lomb, he served as President of Allergan Medical, a division of Allergan, Inc., from May 2006 to July 2010, where he led the merger integration following Allergan's $3.4B acquisition of Inamed, a medical aesthetics company with dermal filler, breast implant and obesity intervention technology. Mr. Grant was instrumental in further developing and leading the medical rejuvenation industry and strengthening Allergan's flagship products including BOTOX(r) Cosmetic, Juvederm(r) dermal filler, Natrelle(r) breast implants, and the LAP-BAND(r) System. Today, Allergan Medical continues to lead the multi-billion dollar medical rejuvenation category by combining its distinctive Direct to Consumer advertising expertise, unique professional marketing strategies and innovative research and development capabilities.
Previously, Mr. Grant served as Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of BIOLASE Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:BLTI), a publicly-traded cosmetic dentistry company headquartered in Irvine, CA. He joined BIOLASE in 2003 serving as its Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Grant serves on the boards of several venture-backed companies including Acufocus, Inc., MyoScience, Inc., and Technolas Perfect Vision GmbH. Additionally, he is Chairman of OCTANe, a non-profit corporation focused on supporting high growth technology companies in Orange County, California. Mr. Grant also serves on the boards of AdvaMed, a trade association focused on the global expansion of medical device technology, the Chief Executive Roundtable at the University of California, Irvine, and The Schmid College of Science at Chapman University. Mr. Grant previously served on the boards of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering, the Corporate Leadership Council for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Mr. Grant holds a BA from Brigham Young University and an MBA (with Honors) from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management. He also attended the Harvard Business School's advanced management President's Seminar. Mr. Grant has lived and worked in nine countries and speaks fluent Japanese, French, Korean and German.
